Snippets of Life

Project 01
IMG_3680 copy.jpg

Simple scenes which become part of our routine can ground us through their perceived lack of change, providing a sense of stability. Yet, each scene which surrounds our accumulated idea of home is changing constantly, in an unwavering way. Tangibly, through light conditions, human movement, rhythmic wind, water, traffic...

And also perhaps more intangibly, change is evident through our reception of a space, our response towards it's offerings, a nostalgic memory...

I aimed to capture these fleeting snippets of life amongst the seemingly unchanged landscape by repeatedly capturing the same scene at different times of day, different focal points and different frames. I wanted to replicate the defiant nature of our human relationship to a home, by which we move around it according to a feeling which is momentary and ever-changing. Change within the stationary.

Once compiling these images into a digital collage (left), it was cropped into a gallery of small snippets of time (as can be seen down below).
